Dénouement

In no amount of time
i shall find that you have
become but a small stilled voice
a mere blip in the universe’s chaos,
fading off into some surreal
yet distant sunset
ultimately finding stardust
leaving behind your cosmic trail
where in the continuum of space
you shall set sail
and infinitely be free…

Autumn Overture
subtle sunrays peek
in between trees sparkling
on fallen fall spun
golden sun drenched leaves, autumn's
soft footprints of season's end.

Change of Days
You are like the best
friend that came to visit
and now must go away
my only consolation is that
it is autumn's turn to stay.

Stormy Clouds
©---g.a.meeder, 2015®
Insurmountable Odds
thunder claps boom with
intermittent lightning bolts
zigzagging their way
flashing, lighting up the
mountainous cloud
of billowy,
surging strength
as it climbs
trying desperately
to kiss the sky
rising against
insurmountable odds
just as we all strive to
every day, we are alive.

What We Cannot Deny
(For ALL The Refugees, (Aylan, 3 & Galip, 5)
lying there face down in the sand
along the coast in his
red shirt, blue shorts, small black shoes
somebody’s sweet child,
their son, lifeless
washed ashore from
their struggle against
immeasurable odds to escape
a war ravaged torn country
only to find the same fate
that they tried so desperately
to flee from
and all some do is argue
over photos that show us
what we have become…

Big Britches

Big Britches
so you say you want
to play in the big leagues
of the world today
a word of advice
you had better
wear your best armor
because battle scars
from home field advantage
have become commonplace
and not everybody is left standing
in one piece and walks away…

Nightfall Vis-à-vis

Find your pathway to the Universe
—©g.a.meeder, 2015®

Nightfall  Vis-à-vis
They tower over us
standing tall reflectively
shimmering lucid in their
crème de la crème
emerald leafed sequins
waving when dog day breezes
rustle their feathery plumage
silently watching us
as we come and go
keeping everything they see and hear
an unspeakable secret
for only them in the darkness of night
to whisper sharing amongst
the stars that sparkle
the creatures that roam
themselves and anybody else
who wants to be in the know.

My Unlucky Charms

My Unlucky Charms
the sting of failure
not once but twice has become
a stigma that is
difficult to overcome
second time round is no charm
dangling from my imaginary
pandora bracelet.

Frenemies For Life

Frenemies For Life
As far back as I can remember
we have had to chicken scratch
hissing, throwing a few punches
biting, pinching, scrimping and saving
our way to fight the good fight
trying to overcome poverty’s
blight thrust upon us
but try as we may
try as we might
it eludes us no matter how hard
the punch is thrown in this fight
the repeat lessons we have learned
surely this road we have outgrown
but so far, no such luck
for it has strangely become
now the best of friends
we have ever known.
this poverty level of life
we just cannot rise above
an enemy claiming friendship
owning us for the efforts
we have sown…

Political Hack

Political Hack
It’s as if you’ve been
advantageously
juxtapositioning
this unwritten law
before time even
churning those wheels
inside your ego driven head
collectively picking and choosing
which words are better sound bites
to speak well of only yourself
neglecting the forgotten
the newly dead
sinning by omission
you should be ashamed
but all you do is
cultivate and grow
a bigger head.

She Got The Blues...

She Got The Blues…
dust particles whirl
in the sunbeams
through the glass windows
that are no longer
rose colored for us
reality came along
wearing the biggest pair ever
of shit kicking boots
that altered the course of time
kicking our coming of age virtues
to the curb on the streets
where we all lived
shaming us, for such naïveté
crystal clear windows of our souls
now cracked,
splintered,
broken
or auctioned off
to the first buyer,  sold!
a weight so heavy
on her mind
so much so
she got the blues…

Condescension

Condescension
Please, do not speak in
that tone of voice
which would imply
that YOU sincerely believe
that you are better  then I.
for I am a skilled in life ninja
who will take you down
for that reason alone
no lie.

Mighty Reckoning

Mighty Reckoning

Political Paradox

Political Paradox
so, you don’t want her
to run, so you poke fun at
her just because you
can, using the same old lame
excuse as did her old man.

Show-Offs...

Springtime Show-Offs...
---©g.a.meeder, 2015®

Show-Offs

Lavender beauties

appear  in a rush

then fade away

as swiftly after

strutting their stuff

like a flash of lightning

does in a brilliant

thunderstorm

leaving me to fancy that

they too are just another

one of those

fast & furious

spring time show-offs.

Knit Up Your Britches

Knit Up Your Britches
I think to myself
With knitted brows
As my needles
Click and clack
And the earth
she spins round
incredibly fast
Can my life possibly
Get any worse than this?
I put my knitting down
And tell myself
Knit up your britches
Frayed woman
Enough of this
One way or another
You will, strand by strand
Purl your way through
And distance this.
